PAMToy
Perks And Mini have always loved and collected objects. They have a huge collection of toy friends, from vintage Tiger Mask and Japanese Sci-fi, to 80’s Madballs and Gremlins, and other curios and weird oddities.
In 2002 with Japanese toy company Medicom they made Missing Link, the original B-boy, now a wise, hairy old man living in a cave in the mountains of Forevereverland. Missing Link is a PAM version of Mr Potato Head, with removable teeth, sunglasses and cap, with long, brushable hair. Missing Link is a tongue-in-cheek, tactile toy that appeared at a time when toys were generally very macho, slick, molded and serious.
The next PAM toy in the Medicom family lives in a billabong at the foothills of Ayers Rock. Bunyip is a creature of Australian mythology whose appearance is never fixed, made up of a combination of various animals. He is a kind of sample creature, with endless possibilities. PAM’s Bunyip is part platypus, part bear, part Disney, a little bit confused but having a good time, eating a hotdog or smoking a bong.
Perks And Mini also effectively translated Bunyip into a miniature form, as a Medicom Bearbrick. Since Bunyip, we have also seen more Bearbrick toys as well as Manana Banana- banana smoking joint. He’s VERY happy.
The latest PAM toy incarnation is Little Friend- in collaboration with legendary artist Mike Kelley. Little Friend is available in early 2007 at Colette in Paris, Ooga Booga in Los Angeles, Undercover in Tokyo, Someday in Melbourne, and online from someday-store.com. Little Friend is a plush, talking friend who is very needy!
